Dr. Kiki Baker Barnes™,
The Athletic Strategist.

Dr. Kiki Baker Barnes, founder of KBB LLC, has been a trailblazer in the intercollegiate sports industry since 1997.

After being laid off from her role as assistant women’s basketball coach of Dillard University due to Hurricane Katrina, Dr. Barnes was rehired as athletics director and head women’s basketball coach in 2006 to help facilitate the revival of the athletics program post-Katrina. Under Dr. Barnes’ strategic leadership, Dillard’s athletics program has seen tremendous growth, which includes the establishment of new sports teams and the university’s first endowed athletic scholarship.

Dr. Barnes’ success with leading Dillard’s athletics program over the last 14+ years has led to her becoming “The Athletics Strategist™,” providing strategic consultation for various college athletics programs that are looking to increase productivity, operate efficiently and grow professionally. As the only female intercollegiate director in the state of Louisiana, the first female and African-American president of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference, and the first female commissioner of the NAIA, Dr. Barnes’ mission is to create more spaces for women of color seeking careers in the sports industry. Her professional leadership program, So You Want A Career in Athletics™, is geared towards connecting young women with career and mentorship opportunities in athletics. If your university’s athletics program needs help with team alignment, productivity and strategy, book a consultation with The Athletics Strategist™!
